Overview
Experience two of Northeast India’s most spectacular regions on this 11-day journey through the Himalayan landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh and the cloud-covered hills of Meghalaya. Beginning in Guwahati, the route travels through Dirang and Tawang, combining mountain scenery, Buddhist monasteries, war memorials, high-altitude lakes and remote local communities. Highlights include Gyuto Monastery, Sela Pass, Sela Lake, Nuranang Waterfall, Tawang Monastery, Urgeling Monastery, Penga Teng Tso, Shungester Lake and the Bum La border area, subject to weather and applicable permissions. The journey then returns through Dirang or Bomdila before continuing towards Meghalaya. In Meghalaya, explore Shillong, Umiam Lake and the remarkable landscapes of Cherrapunjee, including Elephant Falls, Mawkdok Viewpoint, caves, multiple waterfalls and Nohsngithiang Falls. Continue towards Mawlynnong via Dawki, where you can experience the crystal-clear Umngkot River, Living Root Bridge at Riwai and the peaceful village surroundings. The final days bring you through Mawlynnong, Laitlum and Shillong before returning to Guwahati.
