Overview
Experience Meghalaya beyond the usual sightseeing routes on this 8-day offbeat adventure through Shillong, Cherrapunjee and some of the region’s most distinctive trekking trails and cultural landscapes. Beginning in Guwahati or Shillong, the journey introduces you to the scenic beauty of Meghalaya with a stop at Umiam Lake before continuing to Shillong. Explore Shillong’s key attractions including Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Don Bosco Museum, Don Bosco Cathedral and Police Bazar. The adventure then moves into the Khasi Hills with the challenging David Scott’s Trail, a 16-kilometre trek through streams, valleys, forests and mountain landscapes. From Cherrapunjee, take on the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek, travelling through lush surroundings, bamboo bridges and forest trails before staying near Nongriat. A relaxed sightseeing day follows, covering caves, waterfalls and viewpoints including Mawsmai Caves, Wah Kaba Falls, Arwah Caves, Seven Sisters Falls, Eco Park and Nohkalikai Falls. The journey continues to the unique Kongthong Whistling Village, where a guided village experience introduces you to its distinctive tradition of using unique tunes for names. The final adventure takes you on the Wahkhen Bamboo Trek before returning to Shillong and concluding the journey towards Guwahati or Shillong Airport.
